"Well, really, it is only me, Omar Khiel. I started Oasis Custom Cycles in 1988 as a custom framebuilding shop. I started in bicycle retail in the mid 70’s and, after college, decided to set up my own manufacturing business. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from the University of Maryland and a strong desire to strike out on my own, I purchased the tangible assets of Alpine Cycles in Rockville, MD (Thanks Fred!) and moved the entire operation to Arizona. During this time, I took the Tim Paterek Framebuilding Course in River Falls, Wisconsin (Thanks Tim!). Over the years the company has evolved into much more than a bicycle frame shop. Along with building hundreds of bicycle frames and painting thousands, I have also done all kinds of prototype fabrication work, machining, and welding. I have developed many different bicycle specific tools, all designed to perform, but not break the bank. I also perform services such as bicycle frame repair, drill bit sharpening, and wheel building."
All of the Custom Framesets made here are hand brazed steel, lugged or fillet brazed construction, and built one at a time. The custom model is a fitted frame. The frame dimensions are determined by your body’s dimensions, as well as your desired riding characteristics. It can be for road, track, sport, touring, or fixed gear/single speed. This frameset is a true extension of the rider.
Specifications for the Custom Frameset:
Tubing: Currently, I am using Dedacacii tubing, either Zero or Zero Uno, or a combination of both. Dedacacii offers a wide range of sizes and gauges to really be able to “dial in” the Custom Frameset to your needs. Of course, if you desire some other brand of tubing, we can certainly talk about availability and cost. I have access to all the major brands.
Lugs: My lugs are sourced from England and Italy. I use stamped (pressed) and investment cast lugs, depending on the frame.
Bottom Bracket Shell: Walter investment cast, English threads
Fork Crown: Walter investment cast
Drop outs: Either forged horizontal or investment cast vertical.
Braze-ons: Whatever you want!
Forks: 1” steerer, threaded or threadless
Paint: PPG DP Epoxy primer with either DuPont Imron or PPG Essentials polyurethane top coat. DuPont is phasing out standard Imron, so there is limited availability. The color choice is yours. If you would like more than one color, there is an up charge. We can go over that when we talk.
Price for Road, Track, Sport, or Single Speed -------------------- $2399.00
Price for Touring--------------------------------------------------------- $2499.00
Any of these frames can be done lugless (fillet brazed) at no additional charge.
